Fierce Femmes: Chef Shayna of Supper Club

While many know Shayna Telesmanic as “Chef Shayna” from her segment on ABC30, this Fierce Femme has been busy cooking up lots of exciting new concepts  - and we’re here for it. Mom of two, owner of a popular kids cooking school for the last 10 years, creator of Supper Club, and author of Food for You with another book coming soon, Shayna seamlessly keeps it all together while serving up goodness for her friends, family, and fellow mamas.

Born and raised in North Carolina, this USC Trojan moved to the ‘No after meeting her now-hubby, and has since grown her family and her business.

“In teaching children for several years, I realized that many of the moms bringing kids to my classes also wanted to learn how to cook, or at the very least, needed tips for getting dinner on the table,” she says. “After giving birth to my oldest daughter, I found that motherhood could be very lonely - that we often do the same task over and over and it can be exhausting, mundane, and unfulfilling. I see Supper Club as a way to create community, bring women together to chat, commiserate, and laugh, all while getting a very crucial part of life done - putting dinner on the table.”

Supper Club is an ongoing workshop where local women are invited to create make-ahead freezer meals for their families. With each meal being gluten and dairy free, focusing on protein, produce, and spices, club attendees walk away with ten meals and a whole lot of heart.

Through Supper Club, Shayna makes it easier for everyone to live a healthy lifestyle, while building relationships. “It is a place where women can bond and share stories,” she says. “We often feel better after hearing about other people’s lives, and our common struggles and thoughts. We can get hands-on with meal preparation without spending hours in the kitchen, we know what is going into our food, and feel confident that we are preparing food that will nourish our families.”

Shayna manages to make balancing this women-focused mission, her business, and her family life with ease. Real life #goals if you ask us. “Up until now, I have worked hard on all fronts, often burning the candles on both ends,” explains Shayna. “As I enter into this next chapter, I am being more intentional and focused with my time and energy to be more effective and present in current situations.”

This #FierceFemme left us with some wise words on the confident approach she brings to life. “Be unapologetic about pursuing your mission,” she encourages. “Whether you work full time, stay home, or some combination of both, do your best to be present in each moment and ultimately know that you ARE enough.”
